B2B: Do the results matter?

Spead the word...

It is a popular saying that 'All is well that ends well', and this is true for almost all aspects of life be it B2B, business to business, import/export or global sourcing. Of course the way to measure 'wellness' in the B2B or business to business world is quite similar to the traditional brick and mortar concept of business where different figures such as those of import/export and global sourcing determine at the end of the day how successful the overall scenario has been.

Of course there can be not hard and fast rules in the B2B or business to business arena which could define the measuring scale for all sorts of different processes such as import/export and global sourcing figures, yet a few fundamental concepts can be laid out which could be used to suit most situations.

Firstly in the B2B or business to business arena, the first thing that needs to be defined is the parameter which needs to be measured. Obviously this seems quite logical since if you don't know what to measure, how are you going to measure it in the first place? These parameters could be varied depending on the circumstances and could include figures of import/export and global sourcing defined in terms of money.

Secondly after defining what needs to be measured in the B2B or business to business arena, the next step consists of determining how to measure it. For example if the parameter is set as figures of import/export or global sourcing, there need to be methods to quantify them in terms of required units.

Thus we have seen how different parameters should be used to measure the success or performance of the organisation in the B2B or business to business arena, and the end result of transactions carried out under the facets of import/export and global sourcing deals.

The final results are only satisfactory if they justify the investment that has been made in the various phases of B2B or business to business deals and various activities like promoting import/export and global sourcing processes. The justification is usually measured in financial terms apart from few other parameters such as the fulfilment of social responsibilities of the organisation, conserving the environment if the nature of business or production is of an environmental degrading nature etc. Only then can the organisation be satisfied that it has made its mark in the B2B or business to business arena and achieved the desired objectives of improving import/export and global sourcing targets.
