People take lots of different medications.

You do need a kitchen counter unit that uses activated carbon and a process called adsorption, along with a block that allows for sub-micron filtration.
And, just to be safe, you need a process called ion exchange to remove traces of lead that have been found flowing through taps around the country.
But, don't forget the shower, because THMs are gaseous and are a common indoor air pollutant.
Absorption through the skin while showering poses an even greater risk than consumption.
Remember to leave the filter in the on-position when filling a pot for cooking or when washing fruits and vegetables.
Chlorine in drinking water is only one hazard that we face, but it's a relatively easy one to deal with.
