A massage has the principle of applying pressure to the body, either manually of mechanically, for relaxation and relief of pain and tension. Mostly, a massage is used as part of therapy, and can be applied to almost all parts of the body. It has acknowledged mechanical, psychological and mental benefits, and has been termed as therapeutic massage.

Massage is the organized form of touch. It is performed by the hands, elbows and forearms gliding over the skin and applying pressure to the underlying muscles by a system of movements. These movements involve stroking, rubbing, pressing and kneading. Massage is not a panacea, but can greatly aid in the normal functions of the body and restore balance as well.

The need for massages and massage therapies can easily be seen logically. Touch is the most basic and simplest way of showing comfort. When we get into an accident, the first ting to do is to feel and touch the area with our hands, although we know it may not always give us any healing solutions. Hugs caress, and touch has often been associated in aiding the healing and recovery process of any injury or wound. This is why massage has become very popular, because of the need of modern man to feel relaxed and well cared for.

You can easily manage to massage yourself. Use self-massage to energize yourself before school or work in the morning, or to unwind in the evening. You can massage your feet while watching TV, or massage your hands while talking on the phone. You do not need to undress, but you must be comfortable. Use oil if you are massaging on bare skin. Sit in a chair or on the floor, or lie down with your knees bent and your feet on the floor.

Comfort and relaxation is the utmost benefits derived from massages, and everyone knows that is the most welcoming the sought after experience in this fast paced modern world.
