Watch That Traffic

Ever wondered about the traffic you are getting from the traffic redirection giants? Well, I have wondered about the traffic that I get from companies that claim to be redirecting traffic from expired domains, pop under advertising, etc. It's funny how they all say they are generating the traffic too fast for your stats company to keep up. Well, me being in the computing industry for a long time I know better, but let me prove it.

Web servers keep a log of incoming requests IP information, browser information, etc... By the way, this is the same exact log that your stats company uses. Now, here is the question for the traffic redirection companies. How is it that this log file captures everything else except the traffic that is generated from your company?


Just another tid-bit before I close out this article. If you are planning to do traffic redirection or click exchanges be sure to check the companies alexa rating. If the company has been around for a long time and their rating is low then chances are they can't help you. Also, in the case of traffic redirection companies be sure that they are sending North American traffic to your site. I have been burned by that one as well. What good is the traffic if the person cannot understand what is on your page? I will state it again that the traffic generation companies are good if you are just looking to increase your alexa rating and plan to keep it up.
