Step 2 towards building your website is to start using wordpress. It is extremely easy to build a website using wordpress - you need no knowledge of html or scripting. Wordpress requires php and mysql and hence the need for step 1.

Not only is it a powerful and robust content management system but it goes way beyond that. It has numerous plugins to enhance your marketing and readership. And with also these plugins available, using wordpress is no rocket science. It is very easy to use - you need no software background to use it. Follow the instructions for setting up wordpress. Wordpress uses php and mysql which should already have been set up on your webserver (Step1 above).

Step 3. Register domain name.
Step3 towards hosting your website is to choose and register a domain name.

Tips for choosing a domain name:

Choose a short meaningful name with no numbers and special characters.
The name could be a phrase of two/three short words with easy to remember spellings. You do not want your visitors to find it difficult to remember or type domain names.
Choose a name that emphasizes or underlines the content that you are going to put up in your website.

Step 4. Set up a hosting account.

A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own website accessible via the World Wide Web.

Before you set up your hosting account, make sure that you have purchased a domain. (Step 3 is a pre-requisite) To decide upon a web hosting plan you need to determine your needs first and decide exactly what you are going to need now as well as for future developments for your Website.

Space – How much space are you going to need depends on the size of your site.

Step 6. Choose a wordpress theme. A wordpress theme determines the display or presentation of your website. The layout and presentation of your site is important - it should be neat and uncluttered.

Step 7. To start with - Add Home, About, Privacy Policy pages to your website so that your website looks authentic and professional. This builds trust amongst your visitors. Start adding your content - it is as easy as typing in text when you use wordpress.

Step 8. Do search engine optimization for your site to increase the volume of traffic to your website. Unless search engines (google,yahoo, others) lead visitors to your website (which is as good as your online shop), there would not be any earning.

Step 9. Signup for google adsense. It is free and easy to start with for making money online.

Step 10. Affiliate marketing. Join an affiliate program - as an affiliate you get a commission by selling other people's products. Place links on your website to promote products. Your visitors click a link and buy a product or say fill a form. You earn a commission for sales or leads generated from your links.

Affiliate marketing is a quick way of making money online. Compared to any offline business, the risks are low (you can always have your full time job and spend some time working as an affiliate). All you need to do is work hard and you are your own boss.
